Like A Virgin (No More)

I haven’t posted a good video for awhile and it’s Monday. So we need a gigglesnort. Am I right?

There. Now don’t you feel better? I know I do.

But I digress. As usual.

Up until this weekend I’ve been a virgin. A convention virgin, that is. Unless you count that one Star Trek Convention… But that’s another story…

The truth is that as a writer, I’ve never been to any sort of book convention even though it always seemed like a fun thing to do. So, this weekend I signed up for not just one, but two.

Hey, if you’re going to lose your convention virginity, might as well really go for it, no?

Jimmy Thomas

So, in August 2013 I will be attending the Romance Novel Convention in Las Vegas. This is a new convention put on by romance cover model Jimmy Thomas and it looks like it’s going to rock and rock hard! (Ahem.) There are going to be pajama parties, manicures, games, meet and greets with authors and readers, classes, and even a costume ball (and who doesn’t love a chance to dress up). Bob Mayer and Courtney Milan (among others) are going to be speaking. AND there’s going to be a Mr. Casanova contest. I’m not sure what that means except for there will be exceptionly hot men involved and I’m really quite okay with that.

Alisha Paige has got a GREAT rundown of the men who will be vying for Mr. Casanova over on her blog. I gotta say I’m rather partial to Andrew. Hubba hubba. (Oooops, did I say that out loud?)

It’s going to be an amazingly fun convention for both readers and writers of romance. Even better, I’ll be bunking with two of my dear friends and writing buddies, L.M. Pruitt and Tara West. Vegas may never be the same.

Hands With Rings by Petr Kratochvil

Later in August 2013 I’ll be at DragonCon in Atlanta (again with L.M.). I won’t have a booth or anything, but I’ll be wandering around the place with some of my author friends. And I’m definitely looking forward to the Steampunk Ball! Any chance to wear a corset, right?

So, I guess I’m still technically a convention virgin, but not for long.

Are any of you planning to attend either of these conventions? If you are, I’d love to see you there!

  1. Wierd Al cracks me up. It always amazed me how talented he was. He could have done fine as a straight act, but he went a different route. As for conventions, I’ve never been to one either. They’re always a bit too far to travel for me (and expensive).
