Supernatural Saturday #3: Transgender Super Heroes and The Undead

It’s that time of the week again.  That time when we chat about random supernatural fun around the interwebs and around the world.

Remember, it’s not THIS Supernatural:

It’s this kind of supernatural:

And what’s more supernatural than a super hero, I ask you?

Nothing.  That’s what.

Jack Wallen’s brand spanking new super hero novel is available TODAY!  Huzzah!  Already bought mine and can’t wait to read it.  Here’s the blurb:

Shero is not your ordinary super hero, that is unless you consider a cross dressing super hero a part of the norm. But unlike the every day super hero, Shero battles more than evil villains. Shero battles broken heels, runs in his stockings, broken nails, and the scorn of the public at large. In this first installment Shero finds the perfect black dress, a possible lover, a deadly shade of fingernail polish, some nasty, nasty foes, an internal super hero political war, and a narrator full of attitude. Caution: You may find yourself yelling “You go girl!” which could certainly lead to public humiliation. You’ve been

warned.

And speaking of super heroes and the supernatural, I finally got the chance to watch the first episode of Torchwood: Miracle Day.

Holy schmoley!  Was it good.  I’ve missed Torchwood and the delicious Captain Jack Harkness.  Oh, yes I have.  (Could do without the whiny Reese, though.)

I thought Mekhi Phifer made an excellent addition to the show.   It’ll be interesting to see if he turns out to be a good guy, or a bad guy.

But truly, Bill Pullman looks set to steal the show.  Definitely evil.  Definitely charismatic.  Definitely supernatural.

Oh, goodie!

I don’t want to give anything away if you haven’t seen the show (So stop reading now if you haven’t)……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

But it begs the question:

If you can’t die, but CAN be damaged (to the point of being blown up by a bomb) does that make you a zombie?  Or just very unfortunately immortal.

And what happens when the miracle wears off?

Torchwood is going to show us their version of the answers, but how much MORE fun to come up with your own…

  1. I cant wait to catch up with this! Didn’t they already hint that Cpt. Jack ends up as the Face of Bo in an earlier Dr. Who episode? Isn’t being a massive grey head in a jar enough of a cautionary tale without bombs and zombie theory? Hahaha

  2. Oh, yeah. It was one of the episodes with David Tenant as the Doctor. I think it’s near the end of his life cycle (or whatever you call it) and he realizes the Face of Bo is Captain Jack only he’s like a bajillion years old. Coolest thing EVER!
